Tuesday May 23, 2000 Dick Morris: Hillary's "Secret Police" Torpedoed Rudy

Former Clinton confidant Dick Morris, writing in yesterday's New York Post, says he has little doubt that Hillary's "secret police" sabotaged Rudy's campaign chances by revealing his relationship with Judith Nathan.

Morris asked curiously, "How did it happen that Rudy's relationship with Judith Nathan, apparently not a state secret, was publicly exposed only a few weeks before his nomination for the Senate would have become irrevocable at the Republican State Convention?"

Morris notes that the personal revelations PLUS the cancer problem forced Rudy from the race.

Hillary, Morris says, wanted Rudy KO'ed before he even got the nomination.

Morris wrote: "I have no confirmed information on this subject. But I do have speculation informed by the flow of events which led up to the publication of the Rudy-Judith relationship and by my ongoing knowledge of how my former clients operate. They go for the jugular - the knock-out. And they do it secretly, clandestinely, all the while publicly acting above such revolting behavior."

Morris should know. He was a Bill-Hill operative for many years.

Someone tipped off the New York Post to the Rudy-Nathan story first. When the Post held back, someone struck again, this time leaking to the New York Daily News.

That "someone", Morris argues, was a Hillary operative.

Morris makes no bones about the dirty tricks the Clintons can play. "If Hillary and her hitmen were not investigating Giuliani's private life, it would be the first time that the Clintons did not try to collect dirt to smear their political opponents. In almost all their campaigns and scandals, the Clintons hire investigators (in 1992, they even paid for them with federal campaign funds) to find ammunition to use their adversaries' private lives against them."

"Woman after woman has been demonized by their secret police - usually on orders from Hillary - and have had their past dragged through the mud and leaked to the press to discredit their accounts of the president's sexually predatory practices," Morris says, and now Rudy is the latest Clinton opponent who has been victimized.

Wrong. Rudy torpedoed himself by having the affair

You are correct. However, ! has shown her clumsiness once again, by having the goons fire their ammo too soon...BEFORE the convention.

Actually, it's better that it came out now rather than a couple weeks before the election.

I don't think Rudy wanted to run very much from the beginning. It could be that he, or his people, leaked the affair now while there was still time to get a replacement.

Hillary's operatives would be stupid to leak the affair before the nomination was official and his name was on the ballot.

I agree with you. I heard on one of the radio stations here in Oklahoma that she already had commercials completed that were ready to be used against Rudy after the GOP convention that would have made this affair public record. My bet is that Rudy's people knew this was coming for some time and he bowed out after she had all this prepared to use. Now Mrs. Clinton has no one to demonize! Going to be tought to demonize Lazio compared to Rudy.

All of which is a fancy way of saying "I have no facts, I'm just guessing." Morris simply considers himself a superior guesser.

Even though Morris is an amoral sleaze, he is always interesting to read, and he provides a provocative analysis of events that draws upon his inside knowledge and background. It seems that about half the time his analysis is right on the mark, and the rest of the time it's a mile wide. The reader's task is to guess which is which.

Laying aside the ever-popular theory that the Clintons have made a literal pact with the Devil and used supernatural means to implant cancer in Giuliani and force him out of the race, neither the timing of this personal revelation nor Lazio's aggressive entry into the race appear to have produced the optimal outcome for Hillary!.

Yes, Newt did it also. They find that they just can't keep up with the liberals in their private life because their voters aren't big on it. I think Hillary is still laughing at both Newt and Rudy. It is such as waste of good men.
